The recommended entry profile corresponds to graduates of the following Official University Master's Degrees of the University of Valladolid:
- Master's Degree in Research in Engineering for Agroforestry Development.
- Master's Degree in Food Quality, Development and Innovation.
- Master's Degree in Advanced Technologies for Agroforestry Development.
- Master's Degree in Agronomic Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Forestry Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Agroforestry Development.
In addition, the training profiles of students coming from other University Master's Degrees of the University of Valladolid and other Spanish or foreign universities, with related subjects, such as those linked to sciences, technologies and engineering in the forestry, agricultural, environmental, biological, chemical, food, pharmaceutical, veterinary and industrial fields, to mention some of the most important ones, are considered appropriate, as long as their research activity is of a clear agri-food or biosystems engineering nature.
Once the legally required conditions for access have been met and the admission profile has been verified, the Academic Committee of the doctoral programme will carry out the selection and admission, in accordance with the following criteria:
- Academic background and academic record will be valued, especially referring to degrees with competences and knowledge related to the areas of specialisation of the PhD programme (40%).
- Professional and research experience will be assessed, especially in activities related to the areas of specialisation of the PhD programme (30%).
- Accreditation certifying sufficient knowledge of English and Spanish (in the case of students whose mother tongue is not Spanish) to enable them to undertake research training in these languages without difficulty will be valued (10%). For students whose mother tongue is not Spanish, a level of Spanish equivalent to level B.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is recommended. It is also recommended that all students entering the doctoral programme who do not have English as their mother tongue have a knowledge of this language at an intermediate level, equivalent to level B.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- The letter of motivation required of candidates, showing their interest in pursuing the PhD programme, and the specific subject area in which they would like to carry out research if admitted, will be valued (5%).
- The presentation of a letter of recommendation from accredited researchers and professionals in the scientific fields related to the PhD Programme will be valued (5%).
- The interview that candidates must have with a member of the Academic Committee of the PhD Programme will be valued (10%).
By agreement of the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme, at the time of pre-enrolment, candidates must include a document signed by the supervisor of their thesis, in which he/she guarantees his/her availability for that direction (access to the document). The supervisor must be a PhD with accredited research experience. To justify this requirement must also be provided, if applicable, the document of supervision with recognized six-year research periods (access to the document) or without recognized six-year research periods (access to the document).
